All of the originals were hand-built by Bill Finnegan, who joined forces with a couple of MIT engineers to design this most revered boost/overdrive pedal. By stompbox standards it's a complex and highly original circuit, and after producing around 8,000 units between 1994.

About This Listing. This is a Klon buffer with dual outputs that can be used to split your signal. It's new, but there are some light scratches on the powdercoat (the enclosure came to me this way). The Klon Centaur makes use of one half of a dual op-amp for its buffer. I designed it based on the Klon itself and not the Klon buffer schematics.

Here's the buffer stage of the Centaur. The original Klon uses one side of a TL072 for the buffer and the other for gain stage. If you're building the just the buffer, you can get away with a TL071. I've laid out a perf and PCB for each. at 10:43 PM.

Klon buffer analysis The blue loop on the top of the circuit that goes towards the output of the circuit is only active when the pedal is "off". It is the famous buffer!
